Edison was founded in 2008 by Jason Truman, a family descendent of the famous inventor and entrepreneur Thomas Edison, for whom the firm is named. It is not well known in Canada that the Edison family, lead by Thomas’ grandfather, settled in Ontario south of London after the War of 1812. The Truman family patriarch also settled in same area in 1818, and by circa 1843 a Truman and an Edison had married.
Our first office was located in the historic town of Dundas, Ontario. In 2013 Edison welcomed its first partner, Stéphan Trépanier, and opened an office in Unionville, Ontario. The partnership with Stephan strengthened Edison’s leadership and engineering expertise and allowed us to improve service to our growing client base in the Greater Toronto Area.
Our focus was on the repair and restoration of the building structure and envelope. Building performance issues, such as operating costs and resident comfort, are affected by the interplay of the building envelope and mechanical systems. To provide Owners and Managers with a more holistic approach Edison created a Mechanical, Electrical and Energy (MEE) business unit in 2014. Our Clients leverage this in-house expertise to help them make informed decisions to optimize building performance and assess their energy systems.
In 2014 Edison also expanded its service to include a Special Structural Repairs and Renovations business unit. Structural services allows Edison to efficiently support our Restoration projects and provides our clients with a resource for unique Structural projects on existing buildings.
In addition to offices in Hamilton and Toronto, we began serving a growing client base in southwestern Ontario from offices in Windsor (2014), lead by Stefan Nespoli, and in London (2016) lead by Raj Jain. The addition of Raj strengthens our team’s leadership and expertise.

Our Unionville office just held a park clean up outing where we picked up litter in Millenium Square Park and along the banks of a tributary to the Rouge River in historic Unionville, Ontario.
With the success of last year's effort, we returned to assist the Unionville, Ontario community with litter removal in Millenium Square Park and along the Rouge River tributary.
